It’s that time of year where store displays are smothered with red hearts, boxes of chocolate and Cupid’s .
Ugh. Valentine’s Day.
I have never been a huge fan of Valentine’s Day regardless of whether or not I was in a relationship when Feb 14th rolled around. I do however, appreciate that for some, this day is very special and allows people who wouldn’t necessarily express their love & affection to do so.
Yes, I know, how ironic; the girl who launched a t-shirt/ clothing company which revolves around “spreading the love” is now coming out telling you that she’s not a huge fan of this day!
Let me explain.
I am a firm believer that we need to try our best to be kind, loving and respectful daily but I get it, it’s not always the case.
There are many that struggle with low self-esteem, were hurt from a past relationship or who suffer from some sort of depression.
Valentine’s Day can be a reminder that they’re on their own and may cause some to feel extra lonely on this day. Don’t be fooled, being in a relationship doesn’t equate feeling fulfilled! I know many that are in relationships yet, have never felt so isolated and alone.
JETELOVE is all about spreading the love but first, let’s begin with some self love.
If we don’t first love ourselves, how can we be capable of loving someone else?
Self love is a lifelong work in progress with ups and downs. Its so real, so fragile and so important.
May you be reminded of your awesomeness and self worth, every.single day.
